When it comes to attractions, any type of attractions, Mexico rivals any country in the world. Where else in the world can one find such a diversity of things to do and see from the ancient to the ultra-modern? From natural wonders the likes of Copper Canyon, Mexico’s City’s Popocatépetl, the stunning beaches of Cancun or the seaside cliffs of Acapulco? How about the picturesque deserts of Baja California or the jungles of Chiapas? … In the same country where you can find some of the world’s most spectacular archeological sites like Palenque, Uxmal, the pyramids of Teotihuacan, along with one of the wonders of the modern world in Chichen Itza? How about the best examples of Spanish colonial architecture this side of Havana at every turn or mysterious mountain towns with winding underground caverns like Guanajuato or a bohemian artistic heritage like San Miguel? Fantastic cathedrals and religious sites in every city and town. How about the great history of Mexican Revolution? Or get lost in Mexico’s culture from Tequila and Mariachi to the indigenous people of Oaxaca. Get lost in the culture of Mexico City where Diego Rivera and Frida Khalo made their home and William S. Boroughs made as much a part of the Beat Generation and San Francisco. Don’t forget about the modern pleasures such as big game fishing in Mazatlan, the non-stop nightlife in Acapulco, the spring break craziness of Cancún, or the quite off the beaten track escapes like from Todos Santos to the nude beaches of Zipolite to Mexico’s biggest expat community near Lake Chapala. Great ecotourism, events, festivals, excursions, swim with the dolphins, see the Monarch butterflies, go caving, boating, hiking, skydiving, waterskiing, surfing, … there are more attractions and things to do in Mexico than one can possibly imagine.

With over a decade living in Mexico, I have to say that it never ceases to amaze me. No matter where I go there’s always an unexpected surprise or a hidden gem that makes you stop and think how lucky you are that a place like Mexico exists and that you can be there to see it.
